    (MENAFN)

A regional trade group of Turkey said on Tuesday that the hazelnut exports of the country have posted an expansion of 45 percent in the period from September of 2019 to May of the current year compared to a year earlier.

The biggest hazelnut supplier in the world, Turkey, has made a total of USD1.96 billion in revenue from exporting hazelnuts, the Black Sea Hazelnut and Products Exporters' Association said.

The export volume of hazelnuts for Turkey has reached 294,304 tons so far in the current season, starting in September and ending in August, representing an increase of 26.5 percent since a year earlier.

The hazelnut exports of Turkey were mostly made to the EU which that has strong food industries to process the nuts.
