    Jordan to recieve USD20 million financial aid from World Bank

    (MENAFN)


    The World Bank has approved a financial aid project having a value of USD20 million in order to support Jordan in batteling the coronavirus outbreak.

    The new Coronavirus Emergency Response project is going to help the Jordanian health ministry in preventing, discovering and responding to coronavirus threat and improve the public health preparedness.

    This financial aid comes under the USD6 billion Coronavirus Strategic Preparedness and Response Program that was approved by the World Bank Group's Board of Executive Directors on the 2nd of April in oder to improve the responses of developing countries to the pandemic.

    World Bank Mashreq Regional Director, said Saroj Kumar Jha, said that "like its neighbors, Jordan is affected by a pandemic whose impacts expand beyond the health sector and cause an economic slowdown and weaker growth prospects", adding that "the Government of Jordan has taken strong measures to contain and mitigate the COVID-19 outbreak.
