Iranian GDP declines 15 percent over coronavirus outbreak

    (MENAFN)

IRNA quoted the Finance and Economic Affairs Minister of Iran, Farhad Dejpasand, saying that the Iranian gross domestic product (GDP) has declined 15 percent due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The official said during a parliament open session on Sunday that the government needs to find new ways to stimulate the demand to improve the domestic economy.

Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (ICCIMA) released data showing that the GDP of the country came in at USD588.5 billion at the end of the ninth month of the earlier Iranian calendar year.

The official said regarding the United States sanctions imposed on Iran that "even if oil exports were underway without any problems, we wouldn't still be able to access all our resources, so this year we must experience a non-oil budget, which is based on tax revenues".
