    Turkey: Unemployment falls to 13.2 percent in March

    Unemployment in Turkey fell to 13.2 percent in March, down 0.9 percentage points in comparison with the same month in 2019, the country's statistical authority declared on Wednesday, June 10th.

    The Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) stated that the number of unemployed persons age 15 and above dropped 573,000 year-on-year to 3.97 million in March.
    March's figure also decreased from 13.6 percent this February.

    Official data also showed that non-agricultural unemployment slipped 1.1 percentage points to 15 percent in the same period.

    The youth unemployment rate, including people age 15-24, was 24.6 percent, down 0.6 percentage point on an annual basis in March.

    The rate neither of young people who were active nor in education was 27.9 percent, up 4.2 percentage points from the same period the previous year, TurkStat asserted.
