    (MENAFN)

Turkey's current account balance announced a 5.06 billion U.S. dollars gap in April, widening from a 469 million U.S. dollars shortage in April 2019, the Turkish Central Bank stated on Friday, June 12th.

As stated by the balance of payments figures released by the bank, Turkey's 12-month rolling deficit came into 3.3 billion U.S. dollars.

The number beat market expectation of 4.1 billion U.S. dollars deficit in the month as the coronavirus' wave started to be felt in earnest in mid-March and April.

An Anadolu Agency survey on Thursday, June 11th demonstrated that a group of 16 economy specialists predicted the current account deficit to range from 2.2 billion U.S. dollars to 5.2 billion U.S. dollars for the fourth month of this year.

The survey also disclosed the end-2020 current account balance is estimated to record a 10.9 billion U.S. dollar deficit.
