    Borsa Istanbul opens weekly trading 1.2 percent higher

    (MENAFN) Following a break for Eid al-Adha, the Islamic festival of sacrifice, the Turkish benchmark stock index opened Tuesday's trades higher by 1.20 percent, or 13.50 points, reaching 1,140.39 points.

    The daily trading volume in Borsa Istanbul was at 7.9 billion Turkish liras (USD 1.1 billion) by the latest weekly closure on Thursday's session, with the BIST 100 index having decreased by 0.76 percent to 1,126.90 points.

    The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.9710 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Tuesday, compared to 6.9890 at the previous close.
