Turkish gov't helps tradesmen amid rising coronavirus-consequences
(MENAFN) Amid the rising consequences of the merciless coronavirus pandemic on the economic sectors all over the world, the Turkish government declared lately on Thursday that it decided to apply steep value-added tax (VAT) cuts for services and a withholding tax reduction for tradesmen in order to help them overcoming the disastrous consequences.
In a tweet, Treasury and Finance Minister Berat Albayrak declared that "We cut the VAT in accommodation and catering services and cultural activities such as cinema, theater, and museum entrance fees from 8 percent to 1 percent"
He further included that a decline from 18 percent to 8 percent was also seen in the VAT of passenger transportation, wedding organizations, residential maintenance and repair, dry cleaning, and tradesmen services such as tailoring.
According to the ministerial statement, the maintenance tax on office rents for tradesmen was cut from 20 percent to 10 percent.
