    Foreign investment of USD 850m approved in Iran

    (MENAFN) Based on a report issued by the official newspaper and publisher Donya-e-Eqtesad, a total of 49 foreign investment cases valued at about USD 850 million were approved by the Iranian Ministry of Industry, Mining and Trade in the first five-month period of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20-August 21).

    During the stated period, Iran attracted 60 foreign investment cases valued at USD 1.2 billion, with 26 percent of them being approved by the industry, mining, and trade sectors, according to the ministerial data.

    It further declared that the industry sector attracted 83.6 percent of the total foreign investment, whereas trade and mining sectors attracted 10.2 percent and 6.2 percent correspondingly.

    The groups of manufacturing chemical products attracted the hugest share of the investment cases with USD 405 million, followed by basic metals with USD 45 million, food products and beverages USD 32 million, and equipment and machinery USD 26 million.
