    New Russian service provider to initiate employment on power plant south of Iran

    (MENAFN) Reza Ardakanian Iranian Energy Minister stated that Russia has distorted the service provider that was presumed to work on the Sirik power plant in southern Hormozagan Province and the new service provider is intended for begin operational on the scheme in the coming weeks.

    Iran had marked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Russian Company Technopromexport for applying the 1,400-megawatt power plant scheme in August 2016, and the Russian side promised to invest up to 1.2 billion Euro in the scheme.

    The building of the talked about thermal power plant founded in February 2017, though, it came to a halt because of some managerial and financial support difficulties as of the Russian side.

    On Monday September 21 Ardakanian stated to IRNA that "(After years of postponing) eventually, the Russian side came to the conclusion that the contractor [for the project] should be replaced. On this basis, a new contractor was selected, which is also approved by our country,".
