    USD5b provided for import of basic merchandise in Iran

    (MENAFN) Coordinating with the ministries of industry, agriculture, and health, the bank has provided foreign currency with an official rate to the importers of basic merchandise to enhance their work and also to fulfill the country"s needs, according to the CBI office of public relations.

    As revealed, of the mentioned statistics, almost USD4 billion has been dedicated for the imports of merchandise and USD1 billion was used to import medicine.

    The bank projects to provide a total of USD8 billion for the imports of basic merchandise in the present Iranian calendar year, of which USD5.5 billion is going to be put for main consumable materials like corn, oilseeds, crude oil, meal, barley and wheat, almost USD1.5 billion will be offered for the imports of medicine, and about USD1 billion is going to go to the imports of medical materials, based on CBI statistics.
