Iran sets a new goal "Each rooftop a power plant"
(MENAFN) The Ministry of Energy has begun various programs to encourage homes and business to use less electricity and in a more resourceful manner. Keeping in mind that construction of new power plants is expensive and needs a lot of time, so their different approach has been to encourage people to improve their usage.
Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian stated, back in August, that his ministry will reward low-consuming electricity users with a 100 percent discount on their bills.
Ardakanian highlighted that "This program will be implemented to both reward low-consuming subscribers and to encourage others to consume less,"
Though, in spite of the encouraging system, there are still users who completely fail, and manage to use even more electricity. This specific group of users provided for the need of yet another program, so the Energy Ministry has implemented a new plan called "each rooftop a power plant", where high-consuming homes or companies will be nudged to install rooftop PV stations, with the aim of generating their own power.
