Turkey: Parliament receives 2021 budget motion

(MENAFN) A proposal to parliament for the country's 2021 budget has been sent by the Turkish presidency on Sunday, 18th of October.

In said budget, the government assigns the biggest and most substantial share to the education sector with 211.4 billion Turkish liras (USD26.5 billion).

Budget expenditures were portrayed at 1.346 trillion liras (USD169.6 billion). Not to mention that the non-interest expenses amount to 1.166 trillion liras (USD147 billion).

Budget proceeds were estimated at 1.101 billion liras (USD138.8 million) and tax earnings at 922.7 billion liras (USD116.3 billion). The budget shortfall for next year was predicted at 245 billion liras (almost USD31 billion).

The budget will first be studied by parliament's Planning and Budget Commission. Then in December it will be presented to the general assembly, where a heated debate is predicated.

This budget marks the 19th budget of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party government and the second for the new presidential system of governance.
