    Tunisia implements lockdown

(MENAFN) Tunisia extended partial lockdown (from 8 pm to 5 am) for two more weeks in varies areas, such as Monastir, Sousse, Sidi Bouzid, and Sabalat Ouled Asker.

The lockdown is being met with objection from business owners, who are scared they will never financially recover.

While Akram Sabri, the governor of Monastir, said individuals over the age of 75 are asked to self-isolate in spite of their health conditions.

The committee responsible of reacting to disasters in Monastir delayed the full lockdown until the end of October to get a clearer image of the outbreak of the pandemic.

Till now, Tunisia is recording over 1,000 cases daily.

Dr. Habib Ghadeer, highlighted that this stage is vital and would conclude whether lockdown will be extended further or not in certain Tunisian areas.

But all of this will depend on the commitment to healthcare protocols, and following regulations.

On the other hand, cafes and restaurants are now allowed to work within a 50 percent capacity, after being banned by the health authorities from using sitting areas. Now each table can hold two people at a time.

But owners are still objecting over the regulations, stating that these rules are affecting their business, and will eventually lead them to bankruptcy.
