    Lebanon says era of dollar peg finished

    (MENAFN)The period of the dollar hook was ended but any floatation of the currency would rely on negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, declared Lebanon's central bank governor Riad Salameh on Friday.

    In an interview with France24, he made his remarks.

    "The peg is finished," Salameh answered, in the interview when he asked if the period of the dollar peg was finished.

    Reuters asked him if this meant the currency would currently be floated, his comments were circulated "out of context".

    He further said that "I said depending on the IMF, precision is important."
