    Turkey to appoint local representative for LinkedIn

    (MENAFN)On Saturday, a senior representative declared that as part of Turkey's new social media law, which came into oblige in October previous year, the US-based social media platform LinkedIn approved a petition to employ a local official in the country.

    Omer Fatih Sayan, the country's deputy transport and infrastructure mini posted on twitter, "Days before the advertisement ban, LinkedIn announced that it will appoint a representative to our country."

    Turkey has requested social media platforms that are accessed over a million times per day in the country to assign local official.

    Turkey forced a fine of 40 million Turkish liras (USD5.43 million) on multiple social media platforms previous year, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, for not fulfilling with the law.
