Turkey’s Competition Authority fines Unilever for USD61M

(MENAFN)According to Turkish authorities, the Turkish division of Unilever is charged with 480 million lira (USD61 million) for exploiting its strong position in the ice cream sector.

Turkey’s Competition Authority finished an investigation into claims that the multinational despoiled competition law by creating de facto exclusivity by avoiding the sale of rival products at sales points via a number of practices.

The company delayed competition in sales areas 100 square meters (1,076 square feet) or smaller, the company further declared, adding that it attempted to set the fridge capacity given to products of rival companies.
