    Bahrain marks USD1.6B worth of government contracts

    (MENAFN)New data released by Bahrain’s Tender Board — the country’s government procurement regulator stated that Bahrain marked USD1.6 billion value of government contracts in the first three months of 2021, an annual increase of 23 percent.

    The total amount of individual contracts increased 25 percent annual in the first quarter of 2021, with the majority marked as part of Bahrain’s USD32 billion infrastructure growth strategies.

    In the mentioned period, the oil sector was the leading source, amounting at USD767 million — or 48 percent — of all contracts. This was followed by the aviation sector (USD382 million), the construction and engineering consultancy sector (USD194 million) and the materials and equipment sector (USD119 million).

    According to the chairman of the Tender Board, Shaikh Nayef bin Khalid Al Khalifa, “The volume of economic activity, with 25 percent more tenders awarded in the first quarter of this year compared to last year, demonstrates the strength of the economy and the size of the opportunity for businesses that are looking to partner with Bahrain.”
