    Egypt to double state’s funding to 30 percent for green projects

    (MENAFN)Egypt aims to increase the state’s funding for green projects to 30 percent of its overall investment plan in the year of 2021/2022 and to increase it to 50 percent by 2024/2025.

    Green projects currently introduce 15 percent of the state’s investment plan in the current year 2020/2021, according to Sherif Daoud, deputy head of the Sustainable Development Unit at the Egyptian Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

    Green projects focus on the transport, housing, and electricity sectors, Daoud further declared.

    The government is planning to a package of incentives to support the private sector to contribute more in the green economy. The first national report on financing sustainable development projects is also being set, he added.
