Turkey: Employment in wind sector to double in next 15 years

(MENAFN)Anadolu Agency quoted Nordex Turkey's General Director Habib Babacan as saying that there is a vital requirement for skilled workers to convene the requirements of Turkey's extending wind energy sector.

Babacan further declared that the current labor force is not heading toward the increasing requirements of the sector that has the potential to improve the current workforce to 30,000 over the next 15 years.

Nordex improved its Technical Training Center in Turkey's western Izmir province, called as "the capital of wind", to ease the skills shortage, and that is home to 1,635 megawatts (MW) of installed wind capacity, employing nearly 5,000 people.

Babacan also indicated that the training center was found in 2016 to train the company's own technical staff, instead of sending them to the company’s headquarters in Germany. Since its founding, almost 3,000 people were trained at the center and it has now turned into the biggest training center in Nordex’s global organization.
