    Jordanians hope for customers in tourist shops after pandemic

    (MENAFN)Hoping for customers, Ahmad Nassar in Madaba, an ancient town in central Jordan known for its early Christian mosaics, polishes the jewels and souvenirs in his tourist shop.

    The Coronavirus pandemic was a disaster for Jordan’s tourism industry and for its economy as a whole that witnessed its worst contraction in decades in 2020.

    Nassar further declared that “I felt despair, there was no income, no work, there was no support for shop owners.”

    He added that foreign tourists are starting to trickle back, and the situation is looking more hopeful.
