Iran increases electricity imports from 3 neighboring countries

(MENAFN)IRNA quoted Iranian Energy Ministry's Spokesman for Electricity Industry Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi as saying that the country improved the electricity imports from three neighboring countries to offset the increase in domestic demand.

Rajabi Mashhadi further declared that “Up to 650 megawatts (MW) of electricity is currently imported from Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.”

As a result to the infrastructure limitations and domestic demands, the stated countries are not able to provide the Islamic Republic with more electricity, the official further declared.

Managing consumption is the best possible option at the moment for avoiding blackouts in the summer peak period, he added.
