    Egypt’s domestic liquidity increases at end of June 2021

    (MENAFN)At the end of June 2021, Egypt’s domestic liquidity increased to EGP 5.36 trillion (USD213.9 billion).

    Liquidity increased by 1.9 percent monthly. Domestic liquidity rose by 18.3 percent yearly, in comparison to EGP 4.53 trillion in June last year.

    In June, the money supply rose to EGP 1.25 trillion, in comparison to EGP 1.22 trillion in May 2021. Money supply includes payments in local currency and cash in circulation outside the banking system.

    The Central Bank of Egypt stated that it planned to decrease both the overnight deposit and lending volume and its main operation volume by 50 basis points, to 8.25 percent, 9.25 percent, and 8.75 percent, respectively.
