    Saudi Arabia accelerates its low-carbon energy plans

    (MENAFN)Saudi Arabia speeds up its low-carbon energy plans as the state electricity company stated the 95 percent completion of the Green Duba power plant that combined solar with combined cycle gas turbines.

    According to SPA, the 605 MW project is going to cost SR3.4 billion (USD906.5 million).

    The Green Duba plant is being constructed with GE and shows Saudi Arabia’s first integration of a solar array with a combined-cycle plant and the first introduction of condensate as a gas turbine fuel. It has the ability to produce the equivalent power needed to supply approximately 600,000 Saudi Arabia homes for a year.

    It further declared that Saudi Electricity has six constant projects at an expected cost of SR5.5 billion with more projects under tender and award for a further SR1.6 billion
