    Dubai establishes new city for Expo 2020

    (MENAFN)According to the head of the event, Dubai established a “new city” for Expo 2020 that will remain for decades, vowing most of the site is going to remain in use after the six-month world fair.

    Purpose-built showground, the USD7 billion, fills a huge site on Dubai’s outskirts, with several pavilions and exhibitions extending across an area twice the size of Monaco.

    Expo 2020 that has sustainability as one of its main themes ended in March. According to director general Reem Al Hashimy, the largely air-conditioned development would not be wasted.

    Hashimy further declared that “It was never an investment to host an Expo; it was an investment to create a new city that is equal distance between Dubai and Abu Dhabi and really the city of the future.”
