    Egypt starts construction of gas pipeline in Western Desert

    (MENAFN)The Petroleum Ministry stated, citing the head of the General Petroleum Corp that Egypt is in progress with the construction of a gas pipeline in the Western Desert with an estimated capacity of 15 million cubic feet of gas per day.

    He further declared that the company’s current production is about 74,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

    Egypt inked nine new natural gas exploration deals with international companies, making the total number 44. The new exploration licenses are going to lead to investment of USD1 billion with signature grants standing at USD24 million.

    Eight new discoveries of natural gas were observed in the previous year, two discoveries in the Mediterranean and six in the Western Desert, adding an expected 600 billion cubic feet of new reserves.
