    Turkish major stock index ends Monday’s trading day on high record

    (MENAFN) On Monday, the Turkish major stock index ended the first trading day of the year at 1,926.66 points, climbing by 3.71 percent from the last end.

    Opening the day at 1,871.25 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index jumped 69.01 points from last year's end of 1,857.65 points. The lowest record of the index throughout the day amounted at 1,864.79 points, whereas its highest record stood at 1,926.66.

    The overall market worth of the BIST 100 was nearly 1.56 trillion Turkish liras (about USD117 billion) by market end, with an everyday exchanging capacity of 21.9 billion liras (USD1.63 billion).

    Throughout the day, 92 stocks on the index soared, seven plummeted, and one remained at the same value in comparison to Friday's close.
