    Turkey records 32.9 increase in exports for last year

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish president announcement on Monday, with a 32.9 percent increase on an annual basis, the country’s exports reached a record high of USD225.4 billion during last year.

    Recep Tayyip Erdogan stated to a news conference in Istanbul where he declared initial overseas transaction numbers for last year, "Turkey’s foreign trade gap in 2021 narrowed by 7.8% from the previous year to USD45.9 billion."

    The president stated that the exports-to-imports coverage ratio jumped 5.8 points to 83.1 percent throughout the corresponding time span.

    Erdogan also added that the biggest increase was recorded in exports to the US, and mentioned that exports to the EU soared by 33 percent to hit USD93.1 billion. The country has revised the upcoming year’s export goal to USD250 billion.
