    Turkish retail sales capacity soars 15.5 percent in December

    (MENAFN) According to the Turkish statistical authority statement on Friday, the country’s retail sales capacity, a gauge of increasing consumer spending, soared 15.5 percent in the last month of 2021 in comparison to the corresponding month of the preceding year.

    Based on the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) data, all sub-indices registered rises on an annual basis the past December.

    Non-food (except automotive fuel) sales surged by 28.2 percent in the last month 2021, in comparison to the corresponding month in 2020. Automotive fuel sales also climbed by 2.8 percent, whereas that of food, drinks, and tobacco soared by 1.7 percent during the corresponding time span.

    Amongst non-food products, textile, clothing, and footwear sales increased the most, surging 77.3 percent from the last month of 2020, pursued by medical goods and cosmetics (16 percent) and computers, books and telecommunications gear (13.1 percent).
