    Turkey’s major stock index starts Tuesday with high figures

    (MENAFN) The Turkish major stock index Borsa Istanbul started Tuesday’s session at 2,008.29 points, increasing by 6.35 points, or 0.32 percent, from the last ending.

    The BIST 100 index dropped 2.39 percent to end Monday’s session at 2,001.94 points, with an everyday exchanging volume of 34 billion Turkish liras (USD2.5 billion).

    The US dollar/Turkish lira trade ratio jumped to 13.5904 on 9.30 a.m. domestic time (0630GMT) from 13.5530 at Monday's ending.

    The euro/lira trade rate rose to 15.3789 from 15.3340, whereas a British pound exchanged for 18.3861 liras, in comparison to 18.3860 at the last ending. Brent crude oil sold for about USD95.91 for each barrel on 10 a.m. domestic time (0700GMT).
