    Turkish budget balance records USD2.2B surplus

    (MENAFN) According to the Treasury and Finance Ministry announcement on Tuesday, the country’s central government budget balance registered a surplus of 30 billion Turkish liras (USD2.2 billion) in the first month of 2022.

    According to data, the number increased from a 24.2 billion Turkish liras (USD3.3 billion) deficit in January of last year.

    The country’s budget profits soared by 96.4 percent on an annual basis to 176 billion liras (USD13 billion) this January while expenses stood at 146 billion liras (USD10.8 billion), jumping 28.3 percent during the corresponding time span.

    Without interest payments, the budget balance recorded a 44.3 billion liras (USD3.2 billion) surplus the previous month. Tax profits hit 147.4 billion liras (USD10.9 billion), and interest payments amounted at 14.2 billion liras (USD1.1 billion) during the parallel time frame.
