Lebanon sets schemes to increase electricity costs

(MENAFN) Lebanon aims to increase electricity costs as a section of its work to enhance power supply in the cash-debt nation.

According to acting Information Minister Abbas al-Halabi statement, “electricity tariffs will be hiked after improving supply to reach 8-10 hours a day.”

He stated that the Lebanese Cabinet is dedicated “to gradually adjusting electricity tariffs while improving the supply in order to cover the costs.”

Lebanon experiences a serious deficiency of electricity supply because of its inadequate fuel needed for power production, along with a severe increase in the costs of derivatives owing to the fall of the currency, as well as the shortage of foreign trade wanted for imports.
