Saudi Arabia registers USD19.6B budget deficit for last year

(MENAFN) According to Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Finance new data release, the country registered a lower budget deficit for last year from what was formerly predicted in December.

In spite of a surge in government expenses, the country’s real deficit dropped to SR73.4 billion (USD19.6 billion) from the anticipated deficit of SR85 billion (USD22.65 billion).

Based on the data announced late on Monday, the year’s profits amounted at SR966 billion (USD257.46 billion), soaring by SR36 billion (USD9.59 billion) from the predictions in December, while expenses rose by SR24 billion (USD6.39 billion) to SR1.04 trillion (USD277.18 billion).

The deficit for the October-December period alone stood at SR68.1 billion (USD18.15 billion) as the outcomes only changed a little bit from what the government declared in December. The overall profits stood at SR269 billion (USD71.70 billion) and expenses hit SR337 billion (USD89.82 billion).
