    Turkey’s travel, tourism GDP to increase 5.5 percent through next 10 years

    (MENAFN) In line with new research by an industry group Turkey’s travel and tourism gross domestic product (GDP) is estimated to increase by 5.5 percent yearly throughout the next 10 years.

    On Monday, the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) stated that "By 2032, the sector’s contribution to the nation’s GDP could reach nearly 1.04 trillion liras (USD117 billion), representing 11 percent of the total economy."

    It stated that the division is set to produce over 716,000 jobs over the next decade.

    WTTC stated that, by the end of 2022, the division’s contribution to GDP is anticipated to increase 15.5 percent to USD68.5 billion while employment in the division is set to rise by 4 percent to stand at over 2.5 million jobs.

    WTTC also stated that Turkey is on the verge to be the fourth most popular European target for travelers this summer.
