D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation rejoices its 25th year

(MENAFN) The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, also acknowledged as Developing-8, is rejoicing its 25th year.

The idea of an association between most important Muslim developing countries was put suggested in 1996 by Turkey’s former Premier Necmettin Erbakan, while its official launch was declared at the Istanbul Declaration of Summit of Heads of State/Government on June 15, 1997.

Containing eight Muslim nations, headed by Turkey, D-8 is an international formation, instead of a local one, with its values, the scope of geographical area, and the joint population of more than 1 billion.

The entire population of its member states is almost at 1.2 billion, whereas its joint financial capacity is nearly USD4 trillion, covering an aggregate area of 7.5 million square meters (80.7 million square feet).
