    Recep Tayyip Erdogan announces rebrand of Turkey’s flag carrier as Türk Havayolları

    (MENAFN) Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday stated that the national flag carrier is going to make its international flights under the title of “Türk Havayolları,” instead of “Turkish Airlines.”

    The change follows the Turkish administration has taken a representative step in this route by publicly shifting the name of the nation from "Turkey" to "Türkiye" globally in all communications and activities to reinforce the nation's national brand.

    On June 1, the nation name "Turkey" was swapped with "Türkiye" at the UN, after an appeal by Ankara to be stated to as such.

    The new name "Türkiye" is now in place in foreign languages.
