Iran shipments gas worth USD4B in just 4 months

(MENAFN) According to Wednesday's remarks by Oil Minister Javad Oji, Iran exported natural gas worth approximately USD4 billion in the first four months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21–July 22).

Oji was cited by ISNA as saying that "we have collected close to four billion dollars of gas revenue for the first four months of the year, which is nearly as much as what was collected for the entire previous year."

The Oil Ministry has previously stated that it has been successful in collecting money from earlier energy shipments and that it has secured an arrangement to resume gas deliveries to Iraq in April as long as Baghdad settles some of the obligations owing to Tehran.

Iran mostly exports gas to Turkey and Iraq, however the sales have not always been steady owing to concerns with debt repayment, the necessity for local consumption, and sporadic technical challenges that temporarily halted deliveries to Turkey during the winter.
