Turkey continues to be attractive destination for tourists this summer

(MENAFN) Waking up from the COVID-19 effect even as many other nations deals with air travel stoppage, Turkey carries on to be an attractive traveling place for international tourists this summer, mainly from key European source markets, head of tourism officials informed Anadolu Agency.

Zurab Pololikashvili, secretary-general of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), highlighted that tourism's resume and revival is well in progress.

"Türkiye has been among the destinations to experience a marked upturn in international arrivals during the peak summer season," because of pent-up request for travel being released with the lifting or softening of travel sanctions, he stated.

In line with the most recent data from the Culture and Tourism Ministry, Turkey attracted more than 23 million foreign travelers in the opening seven months of 2022, a yearly rise of more than 128 percent.

He also highlighted that Turkey is "well-placed" to welcome travelers back as it has been backing its tourism area during the COVID-19 epidemic.

Admiring Turkey’s investments in tourism infrastructure and labor, Pololikashvili stated that "Coupled with the country’s rich history, and its many attractions, including coastal destinations, Türkiye is an attractive option for tourists, most notably from key European source markets."
