Adnoc, Dubai Supply Authority ink natural gas agreement
(MENAFN) Adnoc and the Dubai Supply Authority (Dusup) have inked a tactical deal for the trade of natural gas.
The inking of the deal was joined by leader Sheikh Mohamed and Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice Leader and commander of Dubai.
The agreement included that Adnoc is going to provide the authority with gas to produce electricity at the Hassyan power complex in Dubai, state-run news agency Wam mentioned in a report on Friday.
The action, which is going to substitute clean coal with natural gas, is going to notably cut emissions from power-generation functions and directly back the UAE's pledge for net zero emissions by the next 28 years (2050), it mentioned.
“This agreement further strengthens energy co-operation between Abu Dhabi and Dubai … to expand the breadth and depth of our energy relations,” according to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy and director general of Dusup.
Adding that “While many countries around the world are returning to coal as a result of geopolitical uncertainty and energy price volatility, the UAE is delivering on its commitment to decarbonise its power sector.”
