Turkey’s automotive output surges 2.3 percent in January-August YoY
(MENAFN) Turkey’s total automotive production surged by 2.3 percent on a yearly basis to reach 833,146 in the first 8 months of this year, as shown by most recent numbers issued on Monday.
Car production in the stated period dropped by 3 percent to stand at 496,302 units, in comparison with the same span of time of 2021, figures from the Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD) indicated.
Commercial vehicle output surged 11 percent throughout the same span of time– 27 percent for heavy commercial vehicles as well as 10 percent for light commercial vehicles.
From January to August, Turkey’s automotive market contributed in 8 percent on an annual basis, the car market witnessed a decrease of 9 percent, whereas the commercial vehicle market expanded 2 percent.
In terms of value, total automotive shipments were 3.7 percent higher to USD19.87 billion, whereas car shipments declined 6.5 percent on an annual basis to stand at USD5.6 billion this January-August.
In this period, Turkey shipped 591,156 vehicle units, whereas car shipments amounted to 339,403 units, as shown by the OSD.
