Iran gas delivery to Turkey launch again after repairs in pipelines
(MENAFN) Head of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Dispatching Department Mohammadreza Jolaei stated that Iran has carried on gas shipments to bordering nations Turkey after the solving of some technical problems in the export pipelines.
As said by the NIGC head, Iran's gas delivery to Turkey had been blocked for eight days since Monday, October 2 to complete monthly maintenances by the two nations in line with a previous deal, Shana mentioned in report.
Gas flow began again on Monday, the 10th of October at 10:10 AM Tehran regional Time, following the conclusion of the maintenances, the official stated.
Iran is Turkey's second-largest provider of natural gas after Russia. Tehran trades nearly 10 billion cubic meters each year of gas under a 25-year provision agreement to Turkey which it utilize for electricity generation.
The gas distributes are delivered through a 2,577 km (1,601 miles) pipeline running from Tabriz to Ankara.
Following the re-imposition of U.S. restrictions in November 4 years ago, Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan made it clear that his nation would carry on to purchase natural gas from the Islamic Republic.
