    More than 17 percent of Iran’s knowledge-based firms operate in oil sector

    (MENAFN) Chief of Iranian Petroleum Industries Equipment Manufacturers Association (recognized as SIPIEM) has stated that more than 17 percent of the nation’s knowledge-based firms are operating in the oil, gas, as well as petrochemical fields, as reported by Shana.

    While giving a speech at a meeting on the promotion of knowledge-based firms labelled "Development of relations with knowledge-based and technological companies”, Ehsan Saqafi stated that the economic turnover of knowledge-based firms has jumped 10 times during the last five years, from 350 trillion rials (around USD1.2 billion) to 3.5 quadrillion rials (nearly USD12 billion) at the start of the ongoing Iranian calendar year (March 21).

    The official mentioned that higher than 40 percent of the knowledge-based firms operating in the oil, gas, as well as petrochemical fields are associate of the SIPIEM.

    As said by Saqafi, the figure of SIPIEM members that have knowledge-based activities has right now amounted to 231 firms which account for four percent of the nation’s overall figure of knowledge-based firms.

    “These companies are responsible for about 10 percent of the financial turnover of the country’s all knowledge-based companies,” he also mentioned.
