Operator estimates Dubai Airport to host 78m travelers during this year
(MENAFN) With Dubai prepared to hold top events including the upcoming UN Climate Change meeting, Dubai International Airport anticipates to welcome 78 million travelers to go via its gates during this year after passenger traffic higher than doubled in the last year.
One of the largest global travel centers, DXB handled 66 million travelers during last year, on a yearly expansion of 127 percent, propelled by robust capacities in the fourth quarter of the year, the airport chief stated in an announcement.
Throughout this time span, the airport registered 19.72 million passengers, rising 67 percent in comparison with the fourth quarter of the year before (2021), making it the busiest quarter since 2019.
“With DXB forecast to welcome 78 million passengers this year, and Dubai hosting major international events including the Dubai Airshow and COP28, it will be another year of new challenges and opportunities and we are ready for them,” according to Paul Griffiths, chief executive, DXB.
