(MENAFN) The initial stage of Iran’s largest dry port and rail terminal named Aprin was formally inaugurated on Monday in a ceremony joined by the nation’s Transport and Urban Development Minister Mehrdad Bazrpash, as reported by Fars News Agency.

Covering nearly 450 hectares of land close to the capital Teheran, Aprin is positioned at the junction of Iran’s East-West and North-South rail corridors, which makes it a key center for the distribution and shipments of goods though railroad.

While giving a speech at the inauguration ceremony, Bazrpash stated that the initial stage of the terminal, covering 55 hectares, has been improved with a fund of 10 trillion rials (around USD22.1 million) by the private industry.

In line with the minister, quicker clearance of imported goods, in addition to declined fuel intake, time of deposition of goods in customs, carrying out formalities for shipped commodities in the vicinity of the capital, job creation, and output boom, are between the benefits of this strategic port.
