Qatar, Italy Strengthen Bilateral Ties through Trade, Networking Events
(MENAFN) Italy and Qatar have established strong relations since commencing official ties, resulting in bilateral trade reaching nearly €8bn in 2022, recording a growth of 54.4 percent. According to Maria Palma Libotte, Chairperson of the Italian Chamber of Commerce, trade relations between the two countries are very strong, and prospects for further enhancing ties are high through networking events such as the Ramadan get-together.
The Italian Chamber of Commerce, founded in 2010, hosts joint events that enable the business community to interact, share views, and explore ways to promote business. The Chamber, formerly known as the Italian Business Council, comprises over 45 members spread across a wide range of sectors, including gas, oil, construction, machinery, hotels, defense, and tourism.
The Chamber's flagship annual event, "Back 2 Business," has been held for the past 15 years and is the much-anticipated occasion for over 600 participants from sectors ranging from petroleum, gas, education, housing, tourism, sports, and professional services. The event is held every year in October and March.
The recent networking and social get-together at the Raffles Hotel in Doha, graced with the presence of 14 ambassadors and comprising 18 business councils and chambers of commerce, gathered over 350 attendees from around 20 countries to partake in a Suhoor. According to Libotte, meetings and networking of this nature are good for the business community in Qatar to build business ties by exchanging views and opportunities on trade and investments in Qatar. Such interactions help strengthen bonds within chambers and the business community.
As Qatar's tourism sector continues to develop, Italy, which has a long history in tourism and hospitality, is looking forward to making a big contribution to it. QTours, the first European tourism company set up by Italy in Qatar, is an example of this commitment.
In conclusion, Italy and Qatar have established strong partnerships, and their relations continue to grow through trade and networking events. The Italian Chamber of Commerce plays a significant role in facilitating these ties, enabling the business community to interact and explore ways to promote business growth.
