Turkish Stock Index Closes Higher with Positive Market Performance
(MENAFN) On Friday, Türkiye's benchmark stock index, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100, closed higher at 4,924.64 points, up 0.24 percent from the previous close. The index started the day at 4,921.33 points, earning 11.83 points compared to the previous close of 4,912.81. Despite the index's lowest value during the last transaction day being 4,899.46, its daily high was 4,955.45.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 4.09 trillion Turkish liras (USD212.7 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 39.22 billion Turkish liras (USD2.05 billion). During the day, 61 stocks on the index rose, while 37 fell compared to the previous close.
As of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT), the price of an ounce of gold was USD2,023.90, while Brent crude oil sold for around USD84.94 per barrel. The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.2500, and the euro/lira exchange rate was 20.9990, while the British pound traded at 23.9040 Turkish liras.
In conclusion, the Turkish stock market closed the week on a positive note, with the BIST 100 index closing higher at 4,924.64 points. The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 4.09 trillion Turkish liras by market close, with a daily trading volume of 39.22 billion Turkish liras. The prices of gold and Brent crude oil remained relatively stable, while the exchange rates between the US dollar, euro, and British pound against the Turkish lira also stayed consistent.
