BIST 100 Index Rises 0.43 Percent on Midweek, Gold Prices Stable
(MENAFN) Türkiye's BIST 100 index rose 0.43 percent on the midweek, closing at 5,146.11 points on Wednesday. The index began the day at 5,128.03 points, earning 21.86 points compared to the previous close of 5,124.25. During the third transaction day, the index's lowest value was 5,121.09, while its highest point for the day was 5,198.39.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index had a total market value of around 4.3 trillion Turkish liras (USD221.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 63 billion Turkish liras (USD3.24 billion). During the day, 52 stocks on the index rose, while 45 fell compared to the previous close.
The price of an ounce of gold remained stable at USD2,012.35. Brent crude oil sold for around USD86.80 per barrel as of 6.43 p.m. local time (1543GMT).
In terms of currency exchange rates, the US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate was 19.3130, while the euro/lira exchange rate was 21.2000. The British pound traded at 24.0560 Turkish liras. Overall, the BIST 100 index saw slight gains on the midweek, with stable gold prices and consistent currency exchange rates throughout the day.
