    Turkish Stock Index Slips 0.79 percent as Borsa Istanbul Ends Monday's Trading Session

    (MENAFN) The benchmark stock index of Turkey, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100, concluded Monday's trading session at 4,466.19 points, marking a decrease of 0.79 percent compared to the previous close. The index started the week at 4,532.6 points but experienced a decline of 35.54 points from last Thursday, which marked the end of the trading week due to a public holiday on Friday.

    During the first transaction day, the BIST 100 index reached its lowest point at 4,415.66, while its daily high was recorded at 4,556.78. The total market value of the BIST 100, by the end of the trading day, stood at approximately 3.7 trillion Turkish liras (USD187 billion). The daily trading volume amounted to 49.6 billion Turkish liras (USD2.5 billion).

    In terms of individual stocks on the index, 30 experienced an increase in value, while 69 faced a decline compared to the previous close. This mixed performance demonstrates the fluctuating nature of the market.

    As for other financial indicators, the price of an ounce of gold was reported at USD1,975.35, while Brent crude oil was trading around USD75.88 per barrel as of 7:30 p.m. local time (1630GMT). The exchange rate between the US dollar and the Turkish lira stood at 19.8323, while the euro/lira exchange rate was 21.4606. The British pound traded at 24.6460 Turkish liras.

    Despite the slight decline in the benchmark index, the Turkish stock market remains active, and investors continue to monitor fluctuations in various sectors.
