MENA Gaming Industry Set to Reach USD6 Billion by 2027

(MENAFN) According to research conducted by Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), the gaming industry in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region is poised to experience substantial growth, with revenues expected to reach USD6 billion by 2027. This figure represents a nearly twofold increase compared to the revenue generated in 2021. The findings are outlined in DMCC's Future of Trade 2023 report, which highlights the MENA region's potential as a burgeoning market for gaming, fueled by its young and digitally savvy population, robust connectivity, and government backing.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO at DMCC, emphasized the global prominence of gaming as an entertainment medium, particularly in the MENA region, where it now accounts for 15 percent of the global player base. This growth is driven by several factors, including the increasing popularity of gaming and esports, which have gained significant traction in the region. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Saudi Arabia lead the way in the MENA gaming landscape, supported by high levels of income, digital engagement, and public investments in the sector.

On a global scale, the Asia-Pacific region remains the largest gaming market, with China, the United States, and Japan emerging as key players. According to the report, the global gaming market is projected to reach approximately USD340 billion by 2027, a substantial increase from USD198.4 billion in 2021. Additionally, the number of esports enthusiasts worldwide is expected to grow to over 318 million by 2025, up from 215.2 million in 2020, reflecting the increasing popularity and engagement in competitive gaming.

The significant growth potential of the MENA gaming industry is a testament to the region's thriving digital landscape and the rising demand for interactive entertainment. With a young population that embraces technology and high levels of connectivity, the MENA region is primed to become a prominent consumer and creator hub within the global gaming landscape. This positive trajectory is further supported by governmental initiatives aimed at fostering the growth of the gaming industry and positioning the region as a thriving gaming destination.
