Libya hits USD3.4b in 2018 fiscal deficit

(MENAFN) Libya recorded a sharp year-on-year boost in its deficit last year, from USD7.57 billion on the previous year to USD3.4 billion.

According to the Central Bank of Libya, USD25.4 billion were seen in the country's actual revenues alone, lower than its public spending which hit USD28.9 billion.

Public expenditure in Libya was announced by the central bank to have registered its public salaries account for 66 percent.

The results were driven by the political division the country is suffering from, leading separation between the east and the west.
