    Iran suffers USD2.5b damages over floods

    (MENAFN) Iran was reported by Financial Tribune daily to have been hit with USD2.5 billion of damages over the recent devastating floods.

    Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli described the floods which struck 25 of Iran's 31 provinces as "unprecedented".

    Floods caused as much as USD948.9 million losses in the agricultural sector, revealed Iranian Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati.

    Meanwhile, USD237.22 million of damages was estimated upon roads, railroads, bridges and related facilities and infrastructure, affirmed Roads and Urban Development Minister Mohammad Eslami.

    Eslami added "more than 14,000 kilometers of roads have suffered damages. About 725 bridges have been totally destroyed."
